Shiyi Zhang: Meet The Winner 2021
ShiYi Zhang took part in Elite Model Look 2021, one of our exclusively online World Finals. He saw off the competition to win top place and a global contract with Elite Model Management. Since then, he has starred in a Balmain campaign and his future looks bright. Catch up with ShiYi below.
Were you scouted or did you apply online?
My agent Bobo scouted me on social media!
What did you learn from taking part in EML?
I learned a lot from the coaching from talent mentors: don't be afraid of difficulties. Stay focused and you will find that everything can be solved
What was it like to win EML 2021?
I never thought I would win, which was incredible to me! When I got the news, I immediately made a video call with my family to celebrate
What model work have you done since you won EML?
I have done a couple of jobs like the Balmain Valentine's Day campaign and the Sebastian Kwok AW22-23 collection show.
You play volleyball – are you competitive?
Yep! I played with the seniors in the school gym!
Do you have any other passions outside modelling?
I love singing. I sing in the shower, at parties with my friends. I love listening to music before bedtime and when I am doing exercise.
When you get tired, how do you recharge?
Take a warm bath and sleep a whole day!
What is your advice to anyone entering EML 2022?
Try your best and leave the rest to the universe.
