Indian top model Bhumika Arora has had a meteoric rise to stardom. Scouted in a “Cafe Beat”, a local magazine, after a friend submitted a selfie of her, she sent her image to model agencies around the world and was picked up by Elite Paris and The Society in New York. Since then, she has walked for Balmain, Chanel, Fendi, Dolce & Gabbana and Armani Privé. Originally from the town of Karnal, Bhumika has been one of the most successful models to come from India in recent times. During Bhumika’s breakout season in 2015, Vogue.com wrote, “Our hearts were stolen by a fresh face on the Vera Wang runway: the moody-eyed, sultry-lipped, and enviously angular Bhumika."

Bhumika has been to business school, and would like to run her own business one day. “I feel like I’m doing my country proud,” Bhumika told Vogue. “Taking risks for this has made me want to work even harder.”

Bhumika made her runway debut walking for Dries Van Noten Fall/Winter 2014. She told The Wall Street Journal, “I want to make a name for myself by doing good work. No matter how much hard work I have to do, I will do that and hope for the best.”

When I started, everything was so new that I didn't notice I was the only Indian girl,” she told Elle UK. “Backstage, all the other models from the same countries would be hanging out together and I started to notice. Back then, south Asia was untouched – now there are so many Indian models being introduced.”
