Ashton And Emmanuel Aka Audio Coming Soon Release Ep

Ashton Gohill and Emmanuel Lawal are Audio Coming Soon, a music production duo based in London. Both signed models, they are also represented by Elite as creative talent. On the back of their latest EP “Us Against Ourselves” released just last week, we sat down with Ashton to talk inspiration, motivation, and an upcoming tour.

You just released the EP – how does it feel to finally have it out?

It feels great to finally have the music out, it’s been a long time coming! It was originally meant to be released in January this year, so to have it out now is really exciting!

How would you describe your style of music?

Our sound is very cinematic, we’re inspired by films and soundtracks, so every song will always tell a story. I think we're still trying to find our sound too so its great to experiment and try new things.

How long has this EP been in the making?

Well over a year! It features 3 artists and was co-produced by a producer who is a friend of ours, RICHH552, so we have been at different studios and locations over the past year or so, creating content and bouncing between ideas with a few people.

Where did you record it?

We recorded the 3 tracks featuring artists in different places! We were using a studio in Grays, one in Hackney and another one in Woolwich. It was literally all over London!

You met at castings / through modelling – do you have any funny or interesting stories when you realized you’d end up being good mates?

Emmanuel and I have been friends for years, we found out that we both had a passion for music and from there started to play around with Djing. I think a stand out moment for us was a few seasons ago in Milan, we were at a Phillip Plein party, and it was the craziest party we had ever been to! You name it they had it there! And the music was incredible and I think from that we just were like, we want to create a vibe like this! We didn’t know how we were going to do it, but that was definitely one of the first inspirations.

You have performed at the Brits and in Amsterdam and Ibiza – what has been the coolest party you have played so far – on a personal level?

I think we both have different preferences when it comes down to performances, but one we can both agree on was a couple years back in London during Men’s Fashion Week. Samuel L Jackson hosted a Charity ball at the Roundhouse in Camden and we played during it. It was amazing we were suited and booted and I got to meet one of my idols…

You are both models who produce on the side. What is your advice for any models – or anyone – who has a passion on the side that they might want to turn into a hustle?

You have to trust your instinct and never been put down by anyone. If you have a passion and believe in yourself that is all that matters. Enjoy the journey!

Is being models as well as producers an advantage or a disadvantage?

It really varies it has its advantages of course, but sometimes people want to put you in a box as just a model and say “you can’t be a musician as well, stick to one thing or the other.” This has happened to us so much but it’s about proving yourself, and trusting the process. The creative scene is growing so much there isn’t a limit to what you can do now.

What are your future plans? Are you going to do more performances? If so, where?

We have another project dropping in a couple of weeks, but for now it’s about enjoying summer and playing as much as possible. Hopefully later in the year we can tour!
